The Compton Community Organic Garden is at 1315 South Long Beach Blvd in Compton had been vacant for over 15 years. Now it is a fully functional community garden with 62 planting beds, a storage facility, water and classroom area! Change is happening in Compton!

The garden is a collaborative effort with several non profit and ministry organizations, the Compton Fire Department and the City of Compton.

We envision this community garden as well as other future gardens to help grow Compton into its full potential as a great city with great people! We see these gardens as tools to:

  • Produce fresh, healthy, nutritious food,
  • Provide easier access to organic food in a health food desert,
  • Reduce family food budgets,
  • Conserve environmental and economic resources,
  • Create opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy, and education,
  • Provide a catalyst for neighborhood and community development,
  • Help create jobs in the neighborhood,
  • Reduce crime,
  • Help beautify neighborhoods,
  • And improve the quality of life for people in and around the Garden.

Can a garden help transform a neighborhood? We say YES!
